Why it's worth checking out

The Precinct is a local pub at Darwin Waterfront, on the ground level of the Adina Vibe building and close to the wave pool and Darwin Convention Centre. It is also within walking distance of Darwin CBD, making it a practical meeting place for locals, visitors and anyone spending time around the Waterfront. The venue opened in October 2012 and has built its identity around modern pub food, craft beer and a relaxed, familiar atmosphere.

Food is centred on contemporary pub cooking made with local ingredients. The menu includes locally caught seafood, NT buffalo, smoked and braised meats, homemade pizza and pasta, with classic dishes given a modern treatment. There are also dedicated options for younger diners and older guests. On the drinks side, The Precinct focuses strongly on craft beer, offering a broad selection of beers and ciders on tap and in bottles, with staff able to help guests explore the range through tasting trays and beer maps. Wine and cocktails, including takes on pub classics, round out the offering.

The venue has several distinct areas, so the experience can change depending on where you settle in. The award-winning Beer Garden is an alfresco space surrounded by the tropical Darwin Waterfront, with views across the area and room for lunch, dinner or group events. The Terrace provides a quieter open-air setting overlooking the garden, while The Nook is designed for smaller gatherings of up to 30 people. The Cellar offers another intimate space, with seating and cocktail-style arrangements described for small groups.

Inside, the Craft Beer Bar is casual during the day, with sport shown on large screens, and becomes a live music and DJ venue at night. The Precinct also has a Gaming Lounge with gaming machines, Keno and TAB, alongside a Gaming Bar. For larger bookings, the venue caters for corporate meals, special occasions, set menus and cocktail parties, with different sections available for private or exclusive use. Families, groups of friends, sport-watchers, live music crowds and visitors looking for a Waterfront pub are all well catered for, while the range of spaces also gives smaller gatherings a more contained setting.

The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 4.0 from 1,467 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
